Teacher Career Summary!
Teacher
Introduction
People who have an interest in teaching will find what they are looking for by conversing with me. I will teach you about what it is like to be a teacher, how much money they make, how to become one, etc. Teaching is one of my favourite subjects! Ask me questions about it and I will answer!
What is it like to be teacher?
You have got to work really hard because you have to build the class you are going to give, create assignments and correct them to provide feedback to your students while keeping it interesting for your students. That but it is extremely rewarding to see your students grow as people in your class.
What do teachers do?
They engage in a variety of activities, from running laboratory experiments, giving class presentation, correcting assignments and building their class' program. They can also organize extracurricular activities which is time paid to set up activities that you are interested in outside of teaching hours for your students to have fun.
What do teachers do on a typical day?
At first glance, a teacher has to give his class to his students and organize laboratories, but there is much more to it. You need to build your class, correct homework and spend time with individual students to make them understand the subject better.
Where do teachers work?
In colleges or in high schools.
How can I become teacher?
The standard method for obtaining a teaching diploma is to take the four-year certified Bachelor of Education program leading to a teaching diploma for preschool, elementary school, secondary school and vocational training. A career change in teaching is also possible as there are master’s degree programs in education that lead to a teaching diploma (see the section Changing direction in your studies or career). To teach in colleges tho, you need at least a master in the domain that you want to teach in, no need for pedagogic formation, although it is recommended.
How much money do teachers make?
A high school teacher will make between $46,527 and $92,027 a year while a college teacher will make in between $74,000 and $195,000 a year (it depends on if you work in the private sector or not).
What kinds of additional training do teachers need?
Prospective teachers are advised to gain skills in communications, organization, and time management and especially for college teachers in college to learn pedagogy because it was not included in their university program in depth or at all.
What are the dangers of being teacher?
At the start of their profession, teachers never know if they are going to teach the next year around because they are on contracts. This leads for an uncertain future which can be a source to a lot of stress and financial problems especially for a job where you invested so long of your life to get to.
What are the chances that teachers will be replaced by robots soon?
While not fully replace teachers in a pedagogic and psychological way, robots have already replaced teachers in a methodological way as we can see with some on the classes of English at Ahuntsic College. I don't think robots will replace teachers but when a complex AI with the capacity to empathize will come around, it won't take long for teachers to be replaced.
What age do teachers retire at?
To retire, a teacher in college needs to be at least 55 years old while for a teacher in high school you need to be at least 62 years old.
Conclusion
On my side, I am currently concluding my college degree in Social Sciences and going to university in philosophy to do a baccalaureate and a master and become a teacher in college in philosophy. This is extremely exciting for me.
